Eric Olander
Author and Sculptor
Author, artist, and teacher Eric Olander has made it his life’s work to help others appreciate more the beauty and spiritual connection we all share with the world around us.
His own journey of inspiration and self-empowerment began on the athletic fields and in the classroom, first as a student, then as a high school teacher and track and field coach. Teaching, coaching, and curriculum development piqued his interest in motivation and personal growth, while also showing him the value of individual differences. His success in this area was recognized by his fellow coaches who voted him San Diego County’s High School Track & Field Coach of the Year in 1988.
A book on Eastern metaphysics Eric stumbled upon early in his career proved to be a life-changing experience, as he sought to translate and apply those philosophies to his teaching and coaching and, of course, personal life. He continued to read a variety of personal growth authors and developed a true appreciation of the spiritual connections all cultures share.
Those connections, between people and their environment, would become a major theme of his work in sculpture. Eric is an artist member of the San Diego Art Institute, and he has exhibited both in Balboa Park and at the San Diego Art Department exhibition space.
The principles of positive personal change Eric discovered and outlined in his book, 12 Journeys, inspired him to develop the Living the Full Mind workshop, an interactive motivational program for achieving greater self-awareness and personal fulfillment.
